Our Services
The surgeons at the Colon and Rectal Clinic of Orlando provide the following services:

Screening and Surveillance for Colon Cancer
Colon cancer is the third most common internal cancer. Almost all colon cancers can be prevented. Our office offers all methods of evaluation to prevent colon cancer. In the absence of symptoms, average risk patients should begin colon cancer screening at the age of 50. All symptoms of the bowel should be evaluated when they occur. High risk patients are recommended to have a colonoscopy at a younger age.
Colonoscopy
Colonoscopy is the best tool available to evaluate the entire colon and rectum. The colonoscope is a longflexible, fiberoptic tube that is able to be navigated throough the colon to visualize the entire surface of the large intestine. This procedure is used to diagnose and treat many different diseases. Regular colonoscopy screening can prevent most colon cancers.
Laparoscopic Colon Surgery/Minimally Invasive Intestinal Surgery
Laparoscopy, often called "camera surgery", is available for treatment of many problems of the entire colon and rectum. With laparoscopic surgery, smaller incisions may allow for less postoperative pain and faster recovery. All of our surgeons have advanced skills in minimally invasive surgery.
Diagnostic Testing for Incontinence
Incontinence (leakage) of stool can significantly alter one's life. Our office offers ultrasoound and manometry as a means of helping to diagnose the causes of anal incontinence. Once evaluated, different treatments can be started (including surgery) to improve one's quality of life.
Diagnostic Testing for Constipation
Constipation is a frequent symptom for many patients. If constipation becomes persistent, then evaluation is indicated. Testing ordered through our office (including transit studies and defecography) can help differentiate causes of constipation. Different surgeries and treatments can improve symptoms.
Colostomy Sparing Surgery
With newer technology and greater surgical experience, colostomy (bag appliance) is rarely required after bowel resection surgery. Even low rectal lesions can be removed and reconnected with good functio and regular bowel movements.
Ultrasound Staging of Rectal Cancer
Rectal cancer has many ways of being treated, from local treatments to major abdominal surgery. Ultrasound staging through our office can help determine an appropriate treatment plan.
